If you have been ill for 14 days or less you don’t need to see a Doctor. You can complete a Self-Certification form yourself. However some employers insist on a Doctor’s note regardless. A Doctors note under these circumstances involves a charge of £20.
Many employers have their own self-certification forms. If your employer doesn’t have its own form you can collect a form from reception. You do not need to see a Doctor.
If you have been ill for more than 14 days you will need a doctor’s certificate. You will need to discuss this with the GP over a telephone consultation.
Please book your telephone consultation in plenty of time as these slots can book up quickly!
If you have already had a Sick Note for this illness your Doctor will still need to speak to you before they issue. This can be done over the telephone.
